Rita Ciancio

Rita Ciancio is an Italian pianist and composer of instrumental music with credits for movies, webseries, short film and dance companies.

She has a classical background with studies in piano and composition at the Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi of Milan.

She’s attended master classes and Composition Workshops with Ludovic Bource, Nicola Piovani, Bruno Coulais, Carlo Crivelli and Paolo Buonvino.

Rita has a modern way of interpreting her music: constant research and linguistic innovation with minimalist themes and decidedly contemporary groove in a very personal style.

She composed music for the New York Film Academy and the National Film School of Milan together with the Italian brand “Poli Grappa”: the movies have been screened at New York City Film Festival 2017and “75th Venice International Film Festival”.

Rita Ciancio has performed in many Italian cities, in Europe and in the United States of America.

In 2015, May 24th, she published the album”Mondi Diversi”(2015) that was presented during a concert at the”Laziowave Festival” with artists Gino Paoli, Morgan, Hevia e Maerlene Kuntz. In 2017, June 23th, her single for piano “Ritornerei da Te” was released in the compilation “Neo Composers Piano”, with Roberto Cacciapaglia’s artistic direction and it entered the first position on iTunes’ charts.

In 2020 she released “InCanto”, a new album of original music for piano, cello, soprano and strings ensemble. In 2019 she wonthe  “Festa della Musica” of Vigevano as best musician.

In 2017 and 2018 Rita Ciancio received two nomination at the Hollywood Music In Media Awards and in 2017 she won the silver medal at the Global Music Awards.

In 2016 she won”Premio Manuel De Sica”for the best musical score on the theme of “Journeying”. Her music for orchestra was performed at the prestigious Spoleto Festival with the presence of Christian De Sica, Serena Autieri, Pino Insegno, Franco Micalizzi, Fabrizio Bosso, Serena Rossi and Giampiero Ingrassia.

In 2016 she won the “London Grand Prize Virtuoso International Competition” and she performed at the Royal Albert Hall.

In 2015 she won the “Città di Albenga” International Competition and in 2014 the “LazioWave Contest”. Her music has been recognized by Ennio Morricone, Roberto Cacciapaglia, Ludovic Bource, Franco Micalizzi, Andrea Di Stefano and Christian De Sica.
